Description

Located in the heart of Baku, the Tofik Bahramov Republican Stadium is a significant sports complex with a rich history. Opened on September 16, 1951, the stadium was named after the famous Azerbaijani referee Tofik Bahramov. Today, it is the main venue for home matches of Qarabag Aghdam and the Azerbaijan national football team.

Construction of the stadium began in 1939, but work was interrupted due to World War II. After construction resumed in 1951, the stadium was ceremonially opened. Over the years, its name has changed several times until it was finally named after Tofig Bahramov in 1993.

In 2012, the stadium underwent a major upgrade under the supervision of the Korean company Samhwa Telecom, which increased the number of seats to 31,200, making it one of the largest sports venues in the region.

In addition to football, the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium hosts international tournaments. In September and October 2012, it hosted the opening and final matches of the Women's U-17 World Championship.
