Description
The Baku Olympic Stadium is located in the Sabunchu district of Baku, on the shores of Boyuk Shor Lake. This is a large multi-sports complex, opened in March 2015. The arena was built in accordance with the international requirements of UEFA, FIFA and IAAF and belongs to the 4th UEFA category, which allows high-level competitions to be held here.
The total area of the stadium reaches 225,000 m², and the stands are designed for approximately 68 thousand visitors. The complex space includes not only a sports arena, but also parking lots, walking boulevards, green areas and public spaces. Thanks to its developed infrastructure, the site is suitable for large events with a large number of spectators.
During its operation, the Baku Olympic Stadium managed to host important international competitions. In 2015, the first European Games took place here, and later the arena became one of the venues for the 2020 European Football Championship. These events strengthened the stadium's importance as one of the key sports facilities in Azerbaijan.
