Description
The Ferenc Puskas Stadium in Budapest has long been Hungary's main sports arena and a symbol of national football. Opened in 1953 under the name Népstadion, it seated over 100,000 spectators and was considered one of the largest stadiums in Europe at the time. The very first match—a clash between Honvéd and Spartak Moscow—attracted tens of thousands of fans and set the tone for future events.
It was here in 1954 that the Hungarian national team achieved a historic 7-1 victory over England. The arena has hosted the European Athletics Championships, international football tournaments, and major matches for the national team. In 2001, the stadium was named after the legendary striker Ferenc Puskas, one of the most famous players in the history of Hungarian football.
In addition to sports, the venue has become the center of major cultural events. In 1986, Queen performed here as part of their Magic Tour – the concert attracted over 80,000 spectators and became one of the most exciting musical events in the history of the country. The stadium was also used as a filming location for the film "Munich" directed by Steven Spielberg.
In 2014, the arena hosted the last match of the Hungarian national team, after which it was dismantled. A new, modern stadium, meeting international standards and designed for 65,000 spectators, was built in its place. Today, it hosts large-scale sporting and concert events, and on our website you can buy tickets for events featuring the band and select convenient seats in advance.
